London to Cambridge

Approximately 100km, starting at Greenwich and heading out of London on the River Lea navigation tow path as far as Broxbourne, then rolling hills past the Hadhams and the Pelhams and through Clavering, before descending to Ickleton and Duxford for the last 10 miles or so on the flat into the centre of Cambridge, finishing outside King’s College.

About a third of the ride is on towpaths, but these are suitable for a road bike with good puncture resistant tyres, unless the weather has been significantly wet in which case all bets are off.

This ride takes me about 4 hours riding, plus stops – and there are plenty of opportunities for cafe and pub stops along the way, so it’s quite possible to turn it into a whole day out!

The word doc is an overview rather than turn by turn route instructions. The GPX is broadly the same route as the word doc but replaces the last 7km of River Lea towpath with tarmac through Cheshunt.
